Ready For Take-Off

Once the sun is up, the butterflies open their wings angling them to the direction of the sun to absorb the warmth ready to take to the air in search of food and a mate, at this point they don’t hang around for long especially on hot days. I was lucky to find this male with his wings open perched on a seed head in a position that if I laid on the ground I would be able to capture him head on against the clear blue sky. Moments after taking this shot he took to the wing.
